Major Service Activities Report (2013-14)
Inaugration
We received the official Charter of our club on 16th July 2013 and the club was formally inaugurated on Sunday 28th July 2013with 32 Charter members and was sponsored by Lions Club of Margao.
District Governor PMJF Ganapati N. Nayak inaugurated the Club and installed the first Board of Directors with senior most member MJF AgneloMendonsa as the Charter President, Lion A.J.B. Rodrigues as Charter Secretary and Lion Manuel A. Dias as Charter Treasurer.
Independence Day: 15th Aug 2013
We celebrated Independence day 2013 at Don Bosco Pre-primary & Primary School, Alto- Dabolim. Attended by 15 Lions including the PDG of our ClubMJF Ln. Ularico who addressed on behalf of the Club.Refreshments/soft drinks were distributed to the participants.On the same day Tree plantation drive was carried out at the spacious Ranghavi Estate in Chicolna Village where the PST & each member planted a fruit bearing tree.
Visit of Region Chairman & Teachers Felicitation
During the B. O. D. of the month of September 2013, held at Hotel La Paz Gardens, Region Chairman MJF Lion Vishwanath Naik Tari along with his home Club President Lion Avinash Vengurlekar paid an official visit to our club. On the occasion of Teachers day celebration, two noted teachers form the locality were felicitated by the club at the hands of Region Chairman. Mrs. Brenda D’Costa, retired teacher of Deep Vihar Pre-primary and Primary School at Mormugao Sada and Mrs. Deepali Basuteacher of Deep Vihar Higher Secondary School at Mormugao Sada, were ceremoniously felicitated by presenting a shawl, an appreciation certificate of the club and a token memento to each of them
Blood Donation camp 1: 23rd Sept 2013
60 young boys & girls from ISBT Sada donated blood. This project was jointly organized and sponsored by MJF Lion K. Sasindran Nair and PDG MJF Lion Ularico. Lion P. Valson of Lions Club of Cortalim gave a motivational talk to the students prior to Blood Donation at ISBT. The project was successfully conducted by all ladies Health Services Committee comprising of Lion Dr. Kirti, Lion Tina Rodrigues & Lion Berfila Dias.It being World Service Day 3 prominent personalities involved with health services were also felicitated.
Visit of Second Vice District Governor & Prominent Service Citizens
2nd Oct’13 Another prominent and distinguished dignitary, Our 2nd Vice District Governor MJF Lion Agnelo Alcasoas. Besides felicitating the prominent service related personalities including Dr Asthana of ISBT, Sada and Dr. Sanjay Korgaonkar of Blood Bank.He also inducted the last 4 Charter members of our club in the fold of Lionism
Eye Screening Camp: 24th Oct 2013
Eye screening camp for the students of Government School at Alto-Dabolim was held on this day being the UNO Day under the chairmanship of Lion Dr.Kirti Naik.
Blood Donation Camp 2
22nd February 2014 : The 2nd Blood Donation Camp in the lionistic year was held on 22nd February 2014 at IMS, Sada, Mormugao under the chairmanship of Lion RajnishHeda. We had 61 Blood Donors at the Camp which was organized by our Club under the guidance of Dr. Korgaonkar of the Goa Medical College/ Blood Bank and our MJF Lion Sansindran Nair.
Dental Check-up Camp: 17th Oct, 2013
Dental Check-up camp for the primary students of Government School at Alto-Dabolim was conducted by 4 local dentists on this day.Toothpaste and toothbrushes were given to each of the student. Snacks and refreshments were offered to the students and teachers.
Hosting of 2nd District Cabinet Meeting
17th November, 2013 : During the visit of our PST and members to the 1st District Cabinet Meeting, considering the leadership qualities and organisational skills of our senior members, DG invited our club to host the second Cabinet Meeting in Goa. The challenge of hosting a cabinet meeting was successfully managed by our club on 17th Nov’2013 at Hotel lapaz, Vasco. Our Treasure Lion Manuel Dias received the MJF order at the hands of District Governor.
Other Activities
Salad decoration competition:The lady lions of our club under the chairmanship of Lion Dr. Kirti Naik organised a Salad Decoration competition at Hotel Lapaz.Our visiting DG witnessed the competition and appreciated the efforts put up by the members & participants. Three best participants were later given cash prizes and a certificate of the club at the hands of our DG during the function.
Club Picnic:All members will be remembering the 3rd/4th May of 2014 for their fun-filled annual overnight stay picnic held at Dudhsagar Resort at Mollem. Trekking into the jungle, bathing at the springs, dancing to the beats, playing group games and overall enjoying their together-ness as one big family.
Dias received the MJF order at the hands of District Governor.
