A few Like-minded members of 24 years old Lions Club of ChicalimBogmalogot together with strong lionistic motives & to further the interests of the community around the Dabolim and Chicolna villages, had sufficient lengthy discussions over formation of a new lions club.

Lions Club of Margao was requested to sponsor the new Club, a request which was spontaneously accepted and a new Lions Club of DabolimChicolna was born.

The first meeting with MJF Ularico, MJF Agnelo, MJF Sasi, MJF Subhash, Self and Manuel was held on June 28th .  This was followed by indoctrination meeting on July 03 rd  , 2013 which was addressed by MJF RynusVicents and MJF SagarSacordekar.

The second indoctrination meeting was held on July 09, 2013 and it was addressed by PDG MJF Ularico Rodrigues and First VDG MJF Pradeep Kulkarni.

Having fulfilled the indoctrination requirements, the sponsoring Club, Lions Club of Margao, President MJF AslamDamania and Secretary Lion Rajesh Kakodkar signed the Charter application form which was earlier signed by the proposed Club President MJF Lion AgneloMendonsa and me as Secretary.

District Governor PMJF Ganapati N. Nayak returned from the International convention on July 13, 2013 by about 8.30 in the morning. PDG MJF Ularico accompanied Club Treasurer Manuel to meet DG at Gokarna on July 13 at around 11 a. m.  The District Governor thoroughly scrutinized the application and put his signature and stamp on all the relevant documents.

The entire set was couriered to LCI Mumbai on Saturday July 13, 2013 from Vasco.And here we have the Charter with the District Governor in exactly 30 days from the first meeting and 15 days from the date District Governor put his signature.

A total of 34 Charter members were enrolled while5 new members later joined the club, leaving a total of 39 members at the end of the lionistic year 2013-14.

With conduct of excellent service activities and abiding all administrative requirements laid down by the Lions Clubs International and the District, our club was awarded the International President’s ‘Club Excellence’ batch for the charter president MJF AgneloMendonsa and the banner patch for the year 2013-14.

Way forward, the new Board of Directors was installed on 26th  July, 2014 under the leadership of Lion A.J.B.Rodrigues as the Club President, Lion Jaiamol J. Naik as the Club Secretary and Lion RajnishHeda as the Club Treasurer.

During the year, on the wishes of the Board of Directors resolved to change the name of the Club to “Lions Club of Dabolim” as some members felt a strong possibility of initiating a new Lions Club in the village of Chicolna. The change of Name was duly ratified by the Generable Body meeting and due procedure as laid down by Lions Club International was followed. At the end of the year 2014-15, our club had 41 members.

Again during the 2nd   year, the club conducted number of service activities for the benefit of the community around Dabolim and the efforts were well appreciated by one and all in the District.
